Differential Pressure Flow Meter

Proven Flow Technology with Cost-Effective Measurement

Differential Pressure (DP) Flow Meters are a traditional yet reliable method for measuring flow based on the pressure drop across a restriction. They are widely used for both liquids and gases in industrial pipelines.

DP flow meters are valued for their simplicity, low cost, and adaptability across industries such as HVAC, chemical processing, steam measurement, and general industrial applications. With modern transmitters, they offer enhanced diagnostics and accuracy.

Installation Process

Ensure proper and safe installation of your differential pressure flow meter by following these best practices.

Step 1: Select Mounting Location

Choose a straight run of pipe, ideally 10D upstream and 5D downstream of the primary element for optimal accuracy.

Step 2: Install Primary Element

Position orifice plate, venturi, or flow nozzle in line with flow direction arrows. Ensure zero leaks at flanges or seals.

Step 3: Mount Transmitter

Securely mount the differential pressure transmitter close to the tapping points and slightly below them to avoid vapor lock.

Step 4: Connect Impulse Lines

Use equal-length impulse tubing for high and low pressure sides. Bleed all air or gas before calibration.

Step 5: Electrical Setup

Connect power and signal lines per the manufacturer’s diagram. Ground the transmitter to reduce electrical noise.

Step 6: Zero & Span Calibration

Perform initial zeroing and span checks using a reference standard or simulation to ensure accurate flow output.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a flow measurement device that calculates flow rate by measuring the pressure drop across a constriction in the pipe, such as an orifice plate or venturi.
