Installation Process

Follow our comprehensive step-by-step guide for safe and optimal installation of your vortex flow meter.

Step 1: Select Straight Run

Ensure minimum 10D upstream and 5D downstream straight piping for accurate vortex shedding and minimal turbulence.

Step 2: Mount Horizontally or Vertically

Install horizontally for gas/steam or vertically for liquids — ensuring full pipe conditions and proper flow direction.

Step 3: Gasket & Flange Alignment

Place gaskets between flanges, center the sensor, and tighten bolts evenly to avoid distortion or leakage.

Step 4: Electrical Wiring

Connect power, signal, and ground wires as per the terminal diagram. Shield cables to prevent signal interference.

Step 5: Set Parameters

Configure meter settings including media type, pipe diameter, unit of flow, and output signal (mA, pulse, HART).

Step 6: Test & Verify

Check for leaks, verify readings with process conditions, and ensure stable vortex signal output under full flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Electromagnetic flow meters are ideal for conductive fluids like water, wastewater, slurries, and industrial chemicals.
No. Non-conductive fluids cannot be measured. The fluid must have minimum electrical conductivity to function correctly.
Minimal. These meters have no moving parts, requiring only periodic cleaning of electrodes in harsh environments.
Yes. The meter can be installed in any orientation as long as the pipe remains full and the electrodes stay submerged.
Factory calibration is usually sufficient, but recalibration may be needed for high-precision or regulatory environments.
